Growing up, one of my fondest memories is of my mom making homemade soup and the smell of fresh buns out of the oven on a lazy Sunday afternoon. To this day, this is still my favorite lunch my mom prepares. The comforting and cozy feeling after eating fresh warm fluffy buns out of the oven and a big pot of homemade vegetable soup lingers throughout the rest of a peaceful day.

My mom’s particular bun recipe continues to be requested at family gatherings and we just recently enjoyed them for Christmas dinner. So after consulting my mom (my son’s baba Nona), she has given me the go-ahead to share her recipe so you all can enjoy them too!

Note: my mom has always made these buns by hand, which does require some physical stamina as each cup of flour should be thoroughly kneeded in for about 3-5 minutes. This kneeding and mixing is essential to create the most fluffy buns. Alternatively, using a Kitchenaid mixer helps wonders in taking the physical work out of preparing these buns, just be sure to still kneed in each cup of flour for about 3-5 minutes with the dough attachment.
